Cleaning & Care Guide

At Wear The Whimsy, every item is carefully inspected and cleaned in accordance with its material and structure to preserve quality and ensure customer satisfaction. Because we sell secondhand, vintage, and pre-loved garments, each piece is treated with the utmost attention to hygiene, safety, and care.

 

 Cleaning Methods

We clean all garments using the safest method available for that specific item:

• Machine Washed — Only when the material permits, and clearly noted on the product listing if applicable.

• Spot Cleaned — Applied for detailed care on structured or sensitive items.

• Shoes — Thoroughly wiped and sanitized inside and out

• Lint-Rolled & Odor Checked — All items undergo a final visual and scent check before shipment.

 Not all items are machine washable. If an item has been machine washed, it will be specifically stated in its description.

Notice on Pre-Loved Items

Due to the secondhand and vintage nature of our inventory, items may not be in perfect condition even after being cleaned. While we take great care to launder each piece as needed, natural signs of wear, aging, or fabric character may still be present.

We strongly recommend reviewing each item's condition label and photos before purchasing. Every product is categorized and described transparently to help you shop with confidence.

 By purchasing, you acknowledge that our items are pre-owned and may show signs of past love.

Condition Categories

We classify each item so you know exactly what to expect when shopping:

New

• Brand new, never worn

• May include original tags

• No flaws, all original features intact

 Pristine

• Like new with no visible wear

• All buttons, zippers, and structural elements present

• Clean and well-preserved

Great

• Lightly used, in excellent condition

• May show very minor signs of wear (noted in listing)

• Fully functional and wearable

​

Good

• Gently worn with 1–2 flaws (e.g. small holes (max 2),  light pilling, faint marks, minor fading)

• Still in good, wearable shape

• Flaws will be disclosed and/or pictured

​

Fair

• Noticeable flaws or visible damage (3 or more flaws)

• Best for upcycling, costume, or creative use

• Not eligible for return

Every item at Wear The Whimsy is carefully reviewed and graded by hand. Our condition categories are designed to give you a clear, honest understanding of what you're buying.

• All pieces are pre-owned, and natural signs of wear may be present.

• Our grading system helps highlight any notable flaws or special considerations.

• We do our best to capture each item's condition accurately with both written descriptions and photos.
